A SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO IT SERVICE MANAGEMENT: WHY IT MATTERS?
Presenter: Amy Osman of MRK Technologies, Ltd.

Learn how to improve performance and availability, recover quickly from outages, and minimize downtime. Learn the importance of incorporating service level measurements and reporting to detect and resolve problems before they affect the end user. This discussion will take a capabilities maturity model approach, to systematically assessing your IT systems needs from a service management perspective. Discussion will cover why it is important to proactively monitor and manage your systems and applications, as well as Ohio based case studies and how they are succeeding

MCOECN & NOREX SERVICES.

Will review the services that MCOECN member organizations can access through NOREX, discussing how these services and resources can help DA-Sites to operate more efficiently and effectively.

Will discuss the Third Frontier Network and how the project is providing fiber-based networking between the DA-Sites and the ONEnet network core.

CA UNICENTER HELPDESK PROJECT. 
Presenters:  Roy Templeman and John VanLanen of TCCSA

Will provide an overview and a review of the CA UniCenter Project, discussing the uses and capabilities of the CA UniCenter application software, and its anticipated impact on services provided to school districts by DA-Sites.

LINUX 101. 
Presenter:  Mike Kwiatkowski of NWOCA.

A review of the basics of getting started building and configuring an Intel-based Linux server.

OPENVMS FUTURES.
Presenter: Eddie Orcutt of Hewlett-Packard

What does the future hold for this venerable operating system that has been so critical in the development and operation of the Ohio Education Computer Network (OECN.

INTEL-BASED SERVER TECHNOLOGIES.

Will review development in Intel-based server technologies and provide an overview of the roadmap for the HP ProLiant server family.

WEBCASTING - TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW & HOW TO GET STARTED.

This presentation will provide an introduction to webcast technologies, describe applications for usage in the K-12 environment, and discuss implementation considerations and ways to get started.

WORMS, VIRUSES, & NETWORK SECURITY.
Presenters:  Bill Warner, Cisco Security Consulting System Engineeer for the Great Lakes Region.

This presentation will discuss the cause, problems, and how worms and viruses are spread. It will also    discuss network configuration and design techniques to limit the propogation of viruses and worms, and outline a complete network security architecture for K-12.

IP TELEPHONY: DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS FOR K-12.

A discussion on IP Telephony, what it is, how it works, and review design considerations for the K-12 environment.

USING A PACKETSHAPER FOR SECURITY.

A discussion on techniques that can be used to utilize a PacketShaper from Packeteer to stop the transmission of viruses and worms.

ODE/SSDT EMIS Standardization

This is a panel discussion to provide information and obtain feedback on ODE report file naming conventions; and an opportunity for DAsites to provide feedback to ODE personnel on ways to improve the distribution of ODE reports; ODE report design; and to find out more information on the standardization of EMIS reporting including aggregations, submission and report distribution procedures. 

DASL Demonstration and Plans on the Horizon

A presentation on DASL development and functionality of the DASL administrative system.  Overview of the product, style sheets, and features as the package relates to both local and state reporting needs of the district.

AAL/eSIS

An update on eSIS as it relates to Ohio school districts local and state reporting needs.  Hightlights of new geatures in eSIS along with demonstration of the TAM module.  Also an update on future enhancements for eSIS and EMIS state reporting.

DASL SQL

Information about how to use SQL with DASL and other SQL databases to select and query information.  Tips and Tricks with SQL within DASL tables.

FY04 EMIS Changes
Presenter: Barbara Murphy and Angie Crandall; ODE

This is a panel discussion with ODE personnel to provide an update on EMIS changes that have changed since the close of the official FY2004 EMIS change process due to adjustment in federal rules/guidance, passage of state legislation/rules, or changes to ODE policy. We will cover the district/building record changes, course reporting, and highly qualified teacher/paraprofessional reporting requirements.

Assessment and Diagnostic reporting update
Presenter:  Jill Dannemiller, Angie Crandall (Other ODE personnel TBD)

This will be a panel discussion with ODE policy/program staff and EMIS personnel to ask any question about the Ohio accountability system and assessment, as well as EMIS reporting requirements for the coming year. Please ask questions early, as ODE depends upon the knowledge base of the DAsite personnel with experience in EMIS reporting and knowledge of activities and questions of districts to assist in foreseeing data policy questions that may arise in the coming year.

SSID, SF3, Funding

Representatives from School Finance, EMIS, CTAE, and managers of the SSID system will hold a panel discussion to take your questions on how EMIS reporting affects funding, the impact of SSID reporting on funding, and any other funding situations about which DA site personnel have questions.
