EMIS

FY05 EMIS for October ODE Presentation    HQT Presentation    HQT Samples

This session is intended to provide DA-site personnel an opportunity to review Fy05 Reporting changes.  This would include a review of the items from the "EMIS Change" process that took place earlier this year and include any changes, additions or deletions.  

SSDT EMIS Update  SSDT Presentation

This session will discuss the September OECN/SSDT software release and changes made by the SSDT.  A quick review of setting up the FY'05 EMIS system is included.  The session will also discuss future plan to web-enable the EMIS software.  Guidelines to using the EMIS Help Desk, SSDT Helpline and Forums will be covered.  The OECN$SETUP.INI used by SETUPENV will be reviewed and several examples of how to utilize SETUPENV in command procedures will be discussed. Use of  SETUPENV may be used to help standardize EMIS procedures used by DA-sites.

FY05 EMIS for December and beyond

A quick review of the regular December Child Count reporting, the ODE Report, and a review of the Early Childhood Report new in Fy04 is included in this session.  Emphasis on whom is required to be reported, who is not, poverty level, Resident/ESC/Grantee Distinct will be discussed.  Time permitting, other non-typical EMIS reporting may be discussed including RFO, CTAE Follow-up, and Five Year Forecast.

Report readiness/documentation

This session might include a review of report documentation for some of the more common reports including the CTAE October report, Certification, SSID, WKC, and HQT reports.  Release of any new report documentation and discussion regarding new ODE reports is possible.  This session may also be used as a chance for ODE to brainstorm with DA-site staff.

Assessment Update

Kindergarten readiness is a pilot project for FY05 and required next year, come to this session and hear a little about this.  Also get a general review of the FY05 reporting requirements.  What grades will be achievement, proficiency, OGT?  What subjects will be given for each grade level.  Reporting of multiple test administrations for achievement and OGT.  Review 4th and 6th grade reporting and phase out. Which test will use scaled scores and which raw scores. How to handle retentions in the various assessment.

Community School Processes - FLICS, CSADM, EMIS

A general review of these systems, reporting requirements and timeline or dues dates will be covered.  OEDS-R and IBM/SSID may also be discussed.  Come to get the answers to Who, what, when, where, why and how regarding these sub-systems.  An update on changes for FY05 will be discussed.

eSIS session (sped)

Software designed to reduce paperwork for special education professionals will be offered to all interested districts beginning this fall. Ohio's Electronic Student Information System (eSIS) Special Education Project provides a technology solution for managing special education student records.the special education functionality of the software has been tested successfully for stand-alone use. As a result, the software can be used in conjunction with other student software packages, giving districts maximum flexibility to make the right decisions for their software environments.

ProgressBook (IEP)

An MCOECN/DASL initiative, based upon the request and input of Ohio school districts and the support of various SERRC/ESC Centers, has developed a WYSIWYG Special Services Application. The software was successfully piloted in four DASites during the 2003-2004 school year and is now a fully functional and customizable application in many of Ohio's districts. The Special Services Application specifically addresses the Special Education software needs for electronically creating and maintaining Individual Education Plans (IEP).

ProgressBook (grades)  Named Grading Scales White Paper

ProgressBook is a web-based software product that supports the most recent K-12 standards based educational practices. It is a grade book, lesson plan, attendance, special education and parent access application integrated into one system. you along with GREAT new DASL features.

DaSL -  SIS Rollout and Implementation status & D.U.C.K Demo

This session will cover the DASL Implementation and rollout status. An update
on Conversion and Cleanup issues will be addressed along with any Database
issues and loading errors.

D.U.C.K. How to extract data from POISE, EMIS and create professional looking
reports, labels, inquiry screens, etc. Will be showing several applications
created with DUCK (Report cards, Career Day, Code Red Report, Fees, Honor Roll,
Student Requests). Also, a quick demonstration of "DUCK 2", which has the
ability to pull data from multiple servers, including VMS and SQL. This allows
pulling data from DSL, DASL, Progress Book, as well as any of the VMS
applications.

Datatrieve - Tips & Tricks

Datatrieve is a powerful query and reporting tool but the software can confuse and frustrate its user. This session will focus on the
more difficult aspects of using Datatrieve with USAS, USPS, EMIS and other data sources. Hints, tips and real world solutions
will be discussed and demonstrated.
 

How to Setup Webcasting and Video on Demand on Your Network - Beyond Buggy Whips, Carbon Paper and VCR's

Streaming is coming to a school near you. In this session, Jeff Lefkovitz will outline what Steaming is today and where it is likely to
go in the near future. We will discuss how it will affect your district's networks and what you can do today to help them prepare for it.
 

HP OpenVMS Futures - A Roadmap Review

Richard Rose is the manager of the pre-sales Solution Architect team that covers State/local government and education markets. He is
also a senior solution architect and has supported OVMS customers for many years. Richard will be addressing the future of OVMS,
the migration to Integrity Servers Itanium II and the product roadmaps.

five years, and has extensive knowledge of the needs of K-12 organizations and of the storage industry including disaster recovery options,
backup and restored applications, storage area networks and network attached storage. Data Protector is HP's own back up software,
providing complete functionality for lower cost than most back up software packages. It enables live backups in most environments, and
offers fast restores.

from NOACSC will introduce you to the JAMS product and how you might use it at your DA-Site.

HP OpenView Network Monitoring & Reporting - An Overview

Mark will provide a review of HP OpenView Network Node Manager (NMM). He will discuss how NNM would allow a user to provide
pro-active monitoring of any size network. He will talk about the most recent advances in network management as it relates to NNM Advanced
Edition. He will also talk about all facets of layer-2 and layer-3 monitoring. He will then discuss Performance Insight, HP's Network Performance
Reporting and monitoring solution. If time permits Mark will discuss a new product which integrates with NNM called Network Analytics. This
appliance allows real-time monitoring of a customers routed environment including BGP, IS-IS, OSPF and EIGRP.
